Had a Migraine. Then I Built an App.

Here is how I VibeCoded a Simple App to Track My Health…

Over the past few months, I’ve struggled with migraines, likely caused by lifestyle changes, eye strain, and hormonal changes. While I’ve sought medical attention and things are now improving, it was frustrating at the time, especially as I tried to find a consistent way to track my triggers and symptoms.

I tried using simple tables and note apps, but nothing stuck. Then one morning this week, I woke up with a thought: Why not use AI to build something myself?

Using AI to Create a PRD (Product Requirements Document)

I started with GPT Plus and spoke my thoughts into the voice-to-text feature, explaining what I wanted, my expected goals, success metrics, core expectations, and how I envisioned the app working. In a few minutes, I had a full PRD ready (screenshot below).

I used a GPT called “Product Requirement Development Writer”, which also recommended a no-code development tool called Glide. I had never used it before, but I was curious, so I gave it a go.

Building With Glide

Glide, true to its name, was smooth. It reminded me a lot of Microsoft Power Apps, but felt more approachable and fun. It’s a no-code platform, and within 30 minutes, I had a working prototype built entirely on the free version.

That said, I started feeling a little limited. Some of the features I envisioned required a monthly upgrade of $25. Still, I was happy with what I had created cos it was simple, functional, and a step in the right direction.

The calendar view displayed the days migraines occurred and their severity levels. Although I got frustrated when I couldn’t fully customize the view as intended, and the chat became limited, the result was still simple and functional.

Trying Another Tool: Lovable

To test things out, I tried a second platform: Lovable. I pasted the same PRD into the chat and waited a few minutes. The app it produced was cleaner and more refined, likely because of how detailed my PRD was.

Interestingly, I had tried Lovable earlier in the week with a vague prompt (which I had completely forgotten about until writing this) and wasn’t nearly as impressed. The difference this time? Clarity and detail.

First attempt at Lovable with the first prompt : “I want to build an app to track migraine episodes”

The PRD I shared earlier helped me communicate my needs clearly this time, and it was evident in the results of the second attempt. See screenshots below :

Reflections & Lessons

  • If you’re a no-code/low-code builder, Glide gives you the flexibility to move fast and build smart. With the paid plan, you unlock even more control, ideal for structured prototyping and MVPs that deliver results.

  • Lovable, on the other hand, shines for vibe coding. When paired with a thoughtful, detailed prompt, it can generate surprisingly polished results with minimal setup. It’s a great way to explore ideas quickly and creatively.

But here’s the real lesson:

  1. Vibe coding is cool, but clarity wins every time. Even with AI and no-code tools, a strong product vision or PRD is still your best friend. It’s the foundation that turns quick builds into meaningful solutions.

  2. Think of AI as your co-pilot, not just your builder. Prototypes aren’t merely first drafts — they’re a shared language. They help you clarify your vision, align your team, and inspire buy-in across functions, from design and engineering to marketing and leadership.

  3. Your first vibe-coded version might be the MVP. You don’t need to wait for perfection. Start with what you have, test it, and iterate fast. Progress beats polish.

What’s Next

Vibe coding is changing how we think about product development. But is it just a trend or the future of fast prototyping?

I’d love to hear from other product thinkers, builders, and business leaders:

  • Are you experimenting with vibe coding or AI-assisted prototyping?

  • How are these tools showing up in your workflows or teams?

I’ll be sharing more lessons at the intersection of product strategy, development, and growth — both in building products and navigating a career. If you’re exploring this space or simply curious about how ideas move from spark to execution, let’s connect. There’s so much to learn and even more to build.
